Dear Peace Activists,
Please tell George Bush, John Kerry, Jeff Bingaman, Pete Domenici, & Tom Udall to Support Our Troops, Bring Our Troops Home Safely Now, and Restore Their Benefits
a. Congress recently passed a resolution of support for our troops in Iraq. Only hours later, the House of Representatives VOTED TO CUT benefits to veterans by nearly $25 billion over ten years. This included an immediate cut of $844 million from veterans' health care, with a total of $9.7 billion in cuts over the next ten years. These cuts were included in FY2004 budget resolution, which was passed by a vote of 215 to 212.
b. Bush administration proposed CUTTING $172 million from impact aid programs which provide school funding for children of military personnel.
c. Bush administration ordered the Dept. of Veterans Affairs TO STOP publicizing health benefits available to veterans.
